Back in October, transFORM and Murphy Brothers Contracting hosted two Continuing Education Unit courses in our New Rochelle Showroom. The first course was geared towards interior designers who own a business or work at a design firm. The showroom was filled with over 25 ASID members and notable interior designers coming from Westchester County, NYC and the Connecticut area.
transFORM’s Co-Founder, Andreas Messis, kicked off the event with a group tour of transFORM’s built-in closets and custom cabinetry facilities.
The CEU presentation was focused around “Getting Organized and Streamlining your Workflow”. The course, was presented by certified Interior Designer, author, professor, and coach, Phyllis Harbinger, who just completed serving as the President of the ASID NY Metro Chapter. Phyllis has been successfully running Design Concepts/Interiors, LLC, her own design firm, since 1993, servicing both commercial and residential clients.
She spoke about the tedious responsibilities interior designers face each day. “Design is only part of an interior designer's job - you're also responsible for scheduling client meetings, conducting design surveys, creating drawings and specs and overseeing installations.” -PH
Using a comprehensive self-management system, Phyllis explained ways to help interior designers juggle multiple projects with ease. Her award winning book The Interior Design Productivity Toolbox, is a great resource to prevent you from becoming overwhelmed and disorganized. The book helps streamline the processes and systems for Interior Designers, Students and the Design/Build community.
While enjoying light refreshments, sponsored by Andersen Windows and Doors, the attentive crowd asked interesting questions and added to the commentary.
Overall, we had a great time introducing our company to a new audience, learning more about the interior design community, and meeting all the talented designers and ASID members.
The evening seminar was tailored to architects and AIA members. Just like the first event, the night began with a group tour, including over 55 architects from the Metropolitan New York and Connecticut area. We appreciated the opportunity to show transFORM’s manufacturing operations and facilities.
The course, which was presented by Zehnder’s Barry Stephens, covered the need for whole-house ventilation. As the Business Development & Technology Director at Zehnder, Barry has been working with energy efficient design architects, builders and contractors since 2010, when they launched their ComfoSystems division in North America.
Looking at recent studies of residential ventilation outcomes, he explained the best practices for providing optimum ventilation for comfortable, healthy and energy efficient buildings. He emphasized how important it is to focus on future development, which could potentially expand the market to mainstream builders, architects and developers.
A big transFORM thank you goes out to Zehnder and Andersen Windows and Doors for providing delicious refreshments throughout the night. We were thrilled to host this event and enjoyed meeting so many enthusiastic and skilled architects.
Additionally, we would like to thank Murphy Brothers Contracting for all of their help.
We look forward to partnering again for future events!
