The Yankees may have lost their chance at the World Series but this Westchester family is certainly winning with their new, custom masterpiece.

transFORM at the ICFF

transFORM had a great time at the 2015 ICFF and NYCxDESIGN expo and celebrations over the past week. We enjoyed meeting new friends and designers and introducing them to our Manhattan showroom at our open houses on Saturday and Monday at the NYDC at 200 LEX. Then on Tuesday at the ICFF, transFORM participated in the ASID Career Exchange and Resume and Portfolio Review to assist newly graduated interior designers in their budding careers. Add to that all of the exploring we did around ICFF at the Javits Center, and we had a very full and fun week.

This custom living room unit and media center was designed to provide all that a Manhattan family needs for entertaining lots of guests or to just kick back, relax and watch some TV. The wall unit also shows off some of our favorite new material finishes with a combination of wood veneer, matte glass, and high gloss.

Wall Hanging or Floor Based Closet?

We are often asked which is better; the floor based or wall hanging closet system? There are advantages and disadvantages for each system. The wall hanging closet system is suspended above the floor using a hanging rail mounted to the back of the wall. Vertical panels have brackets that clip onto the rail leaving the bottom of the unit 6”- 8” above the floor. The advantage of the suspended system is that it allows the existing base molding to remain and shoes and sneakers can be stored along the floor. The disadvantage of this system is that the unit is limited to a maximum 16” depth, does not allow backing, and has a contemporary look.

We’re probably at the time of year where most New Years resolutions have been left by the wayside. After asking around transFORM, we came up with a few resolutions that we are sticking by through thick and thin in this New Year.
